 CHESS COACHING

Chess has been a life-long passion! I learned the rules of the game at the age of 6, living in Thimpu (Bhutan), where my father served as an Indian diplomat. I got very serious about Chess at the age of 11, when my American Grade 6 Homeroom teacher at International School of Belgrade (Serbia), started taking Chess classes after school.  I soon became the school champion. My middle school and high school years at Vienna International School (Austria) also saw me playing a lot of chess.

I again took Chess up seriously in college. I became a part of my college team at Hindu College (Delhi), and I was a member of the team that won the Delhi University Chess Championship in 1994. I played in various state-level tournaments in Delhi during that phase of my life, and I was among the Top 10 juniors of Delhi back then. Next, I was a member of the XLRI (Jamshedpur) Chess team during my MBA days, and I was an active member of the XLRI Chess team in the annual XLRI vs IIM Calcutta sports meets.

My 15 year corporate career in Britannia and Nokia didn't give me enough time to play competitive Chess (though I did play with my Chess buddies whenever I got the chance), but after turning entrepreneur and having more flexibility in my schedules, I've gone back to my childhood passion!

I am happy I can do my bit to build mind power and focus -  for both children and adults - through a game that has given me so much joy and intellectual stimulation!
